আজকে আমরা যা নিয়ে কথা বলব তা হচ্ছে Zero Conditional . Conditional নিয়ে অনেকে অনেক কিছুই জানেন তবে চলুন জানি Zero Conditional কি ? যখন আমরা সাধারন কোন সত্য নিয়ে কথা বলি তখন তা Zero Conditional  এ বলতে পারি  । অর্থাৎ, কোন specific event ছাড়া সাধারন কোন সত্য প্রকাশ করতে Zero Conditional  ব্যবহার করতে পারি । যেমন -

*** If/When/Unless + Present Form + Present Simple /Imperative. 

• If he gets there before me, ask him to wait.
• When you fly budget airline, you have to pay for your drinks and snacks.
• Unless you need more space, a small car is big enough for one person.
• If you visit London, go on the London Eye.

2. Dangling Infinitive Phrase- 
**To keep the young recruits interested in getting in shape, an exercise program was set up for the summer months.
এ  বাক্যে  কে exercise program set up  করেছিল তা দেয়া নেই। এজন্য Subject আনতে হবে। 
***To keep the young recruits interested in getting in shape, the coaching staff set up an exercise program for the summer months.

এর বাইরেও আরো একপ্রকার Modifier আছে। যাকে আমরা SQUINTING MODIFIER বলি। নিচে বাক্যটি পরে দেখুনত -
** Students who seek their instructors' advice often can improve their grades.
 এখানে Often শব্দটি কি ভুলভাবে বসানো হয়নি ? দেখুন শুধুমাত্র একটি শব্দের জন্য পুরো বাক্যের অর্থ পরিবর্তিত হয়ে গেছে। বাক্যটি হবার কথা ছিল -
***Student who often seek their instructors' advice can improve their grades. 
এটি আসলে অনেকটা Misplaced Modifier এর মত। 

***সমস্যা হলে কমেন্ট করুন। 

আজ আমি যে বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা করব তা হচ্ছে  Percentage . ইংরেজিতে Percentage বলতে মূলত Out of Hundred কে বুঝায়।  যাকে আমরা বাংলায় বলি শতকরা। মুটামুটি সব পরীক্ষাতেই এ থেকে দু একটি প্রশ্ন থাকে। শতকরা খুবই গুরুত্বপর্ন। যাহোক চলুন আমরা আমরা করতে করতে শিখি।

** What is 20 % of 60 ?
আমি জানি আপনারা সবাই এ প্রশ্নের  জানেন তবুও চলুন একটু অন্যভাবে করি।
60/5=12
কি কিছু বুঝতে পারলেন ? আসলে ২০% মানে ১/৫ এজন্য সরাসরি ৫ দিয়ে ভাগ করে যা ফল  তাই উত্তর।ঠিক এরকম ২৫%=১/৪,৫০%=১/৫.

Shortcut : (aXb)/(a+b)

Solution :(20x30)/(20+30)
             =600/50
             =12 min.

Modifier সাধারণত দুই ধরনের হয়-
১। Misplaced Modifier(ভুল যায়গায় বসানো হয়)
২। Dangling Modifier(পরিষ্কার মানে দাঁড়ায় না)

১। Misplaced modifier যেমন only, just, nearly, barely ভুল যায়গায় বসানো হয়
example-

-He barely kicked that ball twenty yards. মানে (তিনি বড়জোর বলটিকে লাথি দিলেন বিশ গজ) কিন্তু এর কোন মানে দাঁড়ায় না। এখানে বুঝতে হবে barely কাকে modify করছে । barely এখানে person না বরং দূরত্বকে modify korche। এজন্য হবে- -He kicked that ball barely twenty yards. আপনাদের কাজ এরকম আরও অন্তত ১০ টি sentence make করা। ২। Dangling Modifier- এখানে দুই ধরনের problem আসতে পারে। Dangling Participle Phrase-Changing the oil every 3,000 miles, the car seemed to run better. ভেবে দেখুন এই বাক্যে কি কোন Subject ache ? আবার Car কি নিজেই তেল পরিবর্তন করতে পারে ? এজন্য বাক্যে subject আনতে হবে। Changing the oil every 3,000 miles, Fred found he could get much better gas mileage. Dangling Infinitive Phrase - পরের class এ explain করব।
